Project : Integrated PV and Energy Storage Project for meadows in Valais, Switzerland
1. Project Background Location: A highland meadowin Valais, Switzerland. Customer requirement:
1)Solve the problem of high costs on accessing power grid in remote mountains meadows.
2)Utilize renewable PV energy to reduce reliance on diesel generators and decreasing carbon emissions.
3)To balance the electricity consumption during the day and night via energy storage (Meet the operation of milking and refrigeration equipment at night).
2. System configuration
Components | Parameters |
PV Array | Capacity: 500KW, occupies about 3,000㎡ (Ground installation, Installed at an incline to accommodate snow loads ). |
MPPT DC/DC converter | Power: 500KW, Efficiency >99% |
Battery energy storage (BESS) | Capacity: 1000kWh (lithium-ion battery), supports 3 to 4 hours of peak discharge (sufficient for night milking equipment and refrigeration equipment operation). |
PCS energy storage converter | Power: 400KW, Efficiency >97% |
EMS | Smart EMS integrates photovoltaic forecasting, load dispatching, grid interaction (optional grid-connected/off-grid mode switching). |
3.Actual operating data annual power generation:
About 550MWh (The power generation in winter is lower, The generation in the summer accounts for 60% of the annual total). Energy storage utilization: An average of 1.2 charge-discharge cycles per day, Cover 70% of the farm’s electricity requirement at night.
Emission reduction effect: Replace diesel power generation, significantly reduce CO₂ emissions, and greatly save diesel costs.
4.Smart control:
EMS prioritizeschoose to use PV power, and automatically switch to diesel generation for backup in extreme weather.
